1st International Conference on Nursing Informatics
The first International Conference on Nursing Informatics in Himachal Pradesh was inaugurated by the Chief-Guest Dr Jaya Shree, Director, Research and Medical Education, Himachal Pradesh at Akal College of Nursing, Eternal University, being run under the aegis of The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib on 10 October, 2011. This two-day conference attended by several delegates from India and abroad was set rolling by lighting of the traditional lamps. The conference started with the recitation of divine hymns (Gurbani Shabads) by the students using stringed musical instruments. Welcoming the august gathering, visiting faculty and delegates, Dr Davinder Singh, Registrar, Eternal University cum Secretary, The Kalgidhar Trust, emphasized upon the importance of nursing profession in today’s strife-torn world. Free Plastic Surgery Camp
In its continuous endeavor aimed at the welfare of humanity, The Kalgidhar Trust organized a Plastic Surgery Camp at Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru Sahib from 17 to 25 April, 2010. The camp was a huge success. Several complicated surgeries were performed by a team of doctors and health professionals from Canada, USA and UK, they work under the program, Operation Rainbow Canada (ORC). Read More
Reminiscences of Melia's Maiden Baru Sahib Visit
I feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer my photography services for Operation Rainbow Canada last April. This organization was founded by Vancouver plastic surgeon Dr. Kimit Rai who travels to far off places twice a year with a Canadian medical team of volunteers to perform free surgeries on children with cleft lips and palates. The families of these children would otherwise be unable to pay for the treatment which impacts the way the kids speak and eat, not to mention their future career and marital opportunities. Read More
